thought on filters

so the many articles we have had to read has really opened my eyes to all the layers of technology use. i never put that much thought into it. i just use the internet for my basic uses as needed. i never thought about games as teaching tools, using the internet to learn how to do other stuff and the limitations of filters. i never realized how many different levels of filters there were. I am a advocate for filters but not to the level i heard classmates share. such as mesopotamia weapons and that being blocked. that is ridiculous! but who is to be the judge? my hope would be that the teacher has sense enough to know what kids should have access to and not. or at least have the tool to take off filter for a specific need that is appropriate. but i guess we can't rely on teachers common sense all the time either. for god sakes we have teachers having sex with their students. my thought was, should elementary students even have access to internet? isn't there other stuff that is more important for a young child to be learning? not how to explore the internet!
